How We Report, Source, and Fact-Check the News

At BreakingNewsAlerts.com, every article on federal policy, government restructuring, economic conditions, and national security goes through a structured editorial process before it reaches you. This page explains exactly what that process is.

Our editorial mission

BreakingNewsAlerts.com exists to give working Americans and pre-retirees the same quality of institutional accountability reporting that the mainstream press reserves for its preferred audience. Our tagline is “REAL news in a fake world” and we mean it as a standard, not a slogan.

We don’t bury what’s inconvenient. We don’t frame policy as abstract debate when the actual story is what it does to your Social Security check, your grocery bill, or your retirement window. Every article we publish must answer one question before it earns a headline: what does this mean for you, and why does the mainstream press keep not saying it straight?

How we research each article

Every article covering a policy, economic, or national security topic is researched using a multi-source framework that includes:

  • Named primary sources as the first preference: congressional records, executive orders, court filings, official budget documents, and named official statements
  • At minimum two independent sourcing points for any factual claim about institutional action
  • At minimum one source dated within the prior 6 months for any breaking or ongoing story
  • Cross-referencing against at least one position that contradicts the primary thesis — we represent genuine disagreement rather than smoothing it into a cleaner narrative
  • Anonymous sourcing flagged explicitly and labeled as unconfirmed. We do not publish anonymous-source-only national security claims as established fact.

How we handle stories the mainstream press won’t cover

We cover stories that institutional media buries, minimizes, or frames in ways that strip the personal consequence out. That editorial posture requires a higher verification standard, not a lower one.

Before any story runs that originates in alternative media channels, we run a source-chain check: who first reported this, what is the primary document behind it, and who benefits from it spreading fast? If those questions don’t have clear answers, the story doesn’t publish. Outrage without a verifiable source chain is not journalism. It is someone else’s agenda.

What we never publish

  • Anonymous-source-only national security claims published as established fact
  • Conspiracy claims without a primary document: congressional record, court filing, named official on the record
  • Doom framing that leaves readers without a specific, actionable response
  • Unverified outrage stories that fail the source-chain check
  • Partisan endorsement. We cover the institutional consequences of policy decisions. We do not advocate for parties or candidates.
  • Cold affiliate placement. A product recommendation only appears after the story has established why it is relevant to you.

Our affiliate disclosure

BreakingNewsAlerts.com participates in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates through the AAWP plugin. When we recommend a book or resource in connection with a story, we may earn a commission if you purchase through our link. This never influences our editorial coverage. We recommend resources because they are directly relevant to the story’s subject matter. All affiliate placements are disclosed.

Corrections policy

If we publish an error, we correct it promptly and note the correction at the bottom of the affected article with the date of the correction. Policy, legislation, and agency decisions change. We review and update articles when official action makes the original content materially inaccurate.
